Most restaurant tech optimises the kitchen and forgets the floor. The interesting constraint is that a server has no free hands, no time to read, and cannot stand still staring at a tablet without it reading as rudeness to the table they are standing next to.
So the guest gets a fast, image-led digital menu on their own phone — no app install, no QR-code purgatory — and the server gets a watch. Not a tiny copy of the dashboard: a strictly ranked queue of the next thing that needs a human, one glance deep.
The hard part is state. Three surfaces, one source of truth, and a dining room with genuinely bad wifi. Everything is optimistic locally and reconciled over a websocket, with a conflict policy that always favours the person physically standing at the table.
